*”Without obsession, life is nothing” -John Waters*
Happy Fall everyone! Am I alone, or is fall your favorite season too? I love all things #pumpkinspice (judge me!) and find solace in watching leaves turn colors. “Sweater weather” posts are getting double taps. Plus, I can wear all the makeup I want without sweating so much. Let me NOT ramble here, it’s obvious I’m in love with fall. Instead, I want to share current obsessions hoping you find something you like or that could be useful. I don’t post “Favorites” every month but this September Favorites list is pretty “Litty” so I HAD to share!
Applying eyeliner used to be both terrifying and intimidating to me. While the Stila “All Day” liquid liner is very near and dear to my heart, I think I’ve fallen (pun intended, LOL) in love with the Maybelline gel liner in “Blackest Black.” Can gel liner be called creamy? It glides on easily and works as good liquid liner when you’ve added loose glitters to your look. I will also say I decided to finally pick up my silicone liner brush from my Real Techniques set that helps ease the task of applying liner, too.
Since were on the topic of makeup, let’s talk about the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette that seems to go EVERYWHERE with me. I am completely obsessed with the shimmery golds and the deep matte maroons and browns (perfect for fall!). The shadows are very pigmented and I love using the mustard yellow as a transition shade. It is pretty much a tie between that and the “Burnt Orange” in the Anastasia Beverly Hills’ “Modern Renaissance” palette I featured in a previous favorites posts last year.

I also picked up the “Dew You” setting spray from Too Faced and fell in love instantly. The smell is AHMAZING! I also love the hint of shimmer it leaves on your skin and will be clutch during the winter weather to give you that dewy look. I like to use it right before I add my highlight and blush and people are definitely noticing the difference.
“Good Skin is Always In”
I’m going to share what’s new in my skincare cabinet since we’re chatting about what’s going on the face. I have combination skin, larger pores and have struggled with acne issues sine I was a teenager. I recently tried African Black soap. It made my skin BURN the first time using it. I can’t tell you what I did wrong but it didn’t burn after that. The Black Soap did make my skin less oily but I seem to reach for my Biore Charcoal Acne Cleanser more. It contains Salicylic Acid and Charcoal to help draw out impurities, oils and combat breakouts. The tingling feeling the menthol provides has to be the most relaxing sensation I’ve every experienced in a cleanser!
On top of that, I also added the St. Ive’s Blemish Control Face Scrub to my repertoire. I was drawn to this product because I knew I’d need a good exfoliator if I’m going to get my skin in check. On the back of the bottle, this scrub is labeled with “deep” on the exfoliation indicator. It also contains acne fighting salicylic acid and made with crushed walnut shells to aid in exfoliation. All in all, a combination of using these two products, aloe gel at night, and drinking more water, I have noticed a HUGE different in the texture of my skin.
“Food, Fun, etc”
I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t include food when mentioning favorites, LOL. A friend introduced me to the baked chicken from Straubs, a local grocer in St. Louis. It’s SOOO yummy and delicious and it seems to be something on my lunch menu a few times out of the week (ok, now I’m embarrassed) when I’m at school. If you have not tried this tasty chicken, you’re living life entirely wrong and need to check it out ASAP. I’ll usually walk to Straubs first then head over to Starbucks for the Mango Dragon Fruit Refresher, but since its fall I’ll most likely trade that in for the #PSL (again, judge me).
I’ve have been fortunate enough to get more and more opportunities when it comes to photography and makeup since starting school. I’ve been really honing in on my talents and making connections with lots of wonderful people. If you have interests in either of these I’d love for you to reach out via my instagram or my contacts page so we can make some magic happen!
Lastly, I shared last year that I wanted to start reading more. While I started the year off on a pretty decent foot, my reading time dwindled down to nothing as time went on. So, I decided to give Audible a try. Between listening to “You are a Badass” and trying to finish reading “Make Today Count” by John C. Maxwell, I’ve been slowly been stepping my game up! *queues Ciara’s Level Up beat*
