Sharing My April + May Favorites 2019

This past week the weather was close to 80º. I can’t believe how much the temps have changed. Wasn’t it still sweater weather a couple of weeks ago? The weather hasn’t been the only think to change lately. I have been trying out some new products in efforts to get ready for spring and summer. There are also a few items that I will be keeping around even though we are in a new season. So I felt like this would be a perfect time share some of my April + May Favorites with you all.

Everyone loves beauty waves right? Since going to the ISSE and winning Beacon (read all about it here) I have fallen IN LOVE with Amika’s collection. I use their anti humidity spray. One thing that really sold me on this product is that it also acts as a heat protectant.

Depending on what style I am going for, I also use “Un.done” which is their texturing spray and “Haute Mess” their gloss texturizing gel. It works WONDERS for both you hairline and ends.

I generally use those product on my extensions. For the ladies wearing extensions let’s not forget about our natural hair too. I have really been loving the Moroccanoil Shampoo and Conditioner from the Repair line.

When I do decided to wear my natural hair out, I use the Indian Healing Clay mask. I then follow up with Kevin Murphy’s Killer.Waves and Killer.Curls. It really brings my strands to life and make my texture POP!

This wouldn’t be an April + May Favorites post if I didn’t share what’s keeping my skin hydrated, glowing and smooth. Besides body care, I also stumbled across some great facial products that help tame my troubled skin in warm weather.

I touched base on my skincare goals some in a previous post. I mentioned how I wanted to schedule more facials in 2019. Well, I was fortunate enough to be gifted a Michael Todd Sonic Smooth and a Sonic Refresher last month. They have been a GAME CHANGER for my skin! My husband instantly noticed the difference in the texture of my skin after my first use of the Sonic Smooth.

For those that are unfamiliar with the Michael Todd Skincare products, do not worry. I have a full review of each tool coming live to the blog and my youtube channel next week.

I also have been loving the Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser, Glow Peel Pads, and Glow Tonic. For my Body, I’ve also been using the Glycolic Body Peel. I don’t know if yo see the trend here, but I’m obviously a huge fan of glycolic acid, when used correctly. If you have a few more coins to splurge, I would also recommend looking into the Drunk Elephant Brand. I love theirNight Bright Duo and T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial. These have both AHAs and BHAs to help keep your skin exfoliated and radiant.

Moisturizers + SPF

Since I’m sharing all of these bomb ass cleaners and exfoliators, I think I should also plug in some of my top moisturizer and lotions. Its really important to stay protected from UVA+UVB rays and to stay hydrated when using exfoliators.

My go to moisturizer has been and still is the Garnier Skin Active Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream. That’s a long name, isn’t it? But I promise you’ll love it. Since its gel based and oil free, it is perfect for combination/oily skin and larger pores. They also have one for dry skin as well.

I cannot say it’s necessary to use an SPF 50 but that is my choice lol. Go big or go home. Right? I have been using the Dermalogica Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster SPF 50. I love this product because it is not actually a moisturizer. It is just sunscreen that can be added to your moisturizer or choice to give you protection. You can use it anywhere on your body!

Lately I have been mixing my sunscreen with Love Beauty and Planet “Murumuru Butter and Rosebody butter or body lotion. Not only do I LIVE for Rose essential oil, but I also love that Murumuru has loads of beneficial properties. I actually use both in my handmade “Curls Gone Wild” hair butter.

Apparel + Accessories

I basically put all of my dresses up during the winder and didn’t really bring them back out until Mother’s Day. I shared a lot of my April + May Favorites for dresses in my Mother’s Day dress post. So be sure to stop by that post to check out even more!

Now that higher temps are here to stay, I am ready to let my legs breath lol. I’ve always been a huge fan of maxi dresses, but I have really ben enjoying the shorter and free flowing dresses lately.

I have also hopped on the fanny pack band wagon. I purchased the cutest one last month from Nordstrom and have gotten so many compliments! Sunglasses are also something I’m beginning to wear a lot more of. I picked up the cutest pair from target and they have literally been glued to my face. I just love the cute stud detailing on the sides and they just make me feel so fancy!

Then I decided to treat myself to a new pair of leopard print tennis shoes to wear for those days when I want to be cute and comfortable. I got them on SALE at Famous Footwear for 50% OFF! Talk about a score. Yessss ,Girl. I felt like I hit the lottery that day lol.

Lastly, I have been dabbling into wearing hats more. I used to wear really big curly hair and hats never really fit my fat head lol. But, since I have been wearing more looser curled hair with more natural volume. So, naturally when I was in Target I decided to get the cutest fedora.
